Laksh Foundation was founded in December 2023 by CA Sanju Runwal — a Chartered Accountant from Bijapur, Karnataka, who saw a problem he could not ignore. Every day, thousands of daily wage earners, homeless individuals, and vulnerable families in his city went to bed hungry. Not because food didn’t exist, but because no one was connecting the two.
What started as a personal mission — packing meals and distributing them in the lanes of Bijapur — quickly grew into a movement. Friends joined, families donated, and within months, a community of changemakers had formed around a shared belief: that feeding someone is the most human thing you can do.
As our volunteers spent more time in Bijapur’s neighbourhoods, a second pattern became impossible to ignore: children showing up to school without notebooks, without a bag to carry them in, or not showing up at all. Feeding a child’s stomach and then watching them fall behind in class for lack of a ₹50 notebook felt like solving only half the problem. So, Laksh Foundation began collecting book donations and assembling education kits — school bags, notebooks, stationery, and learning materials — for children in the families we already served. It wasn’t a new mission. It was the same mission, finishing the job.
